Being a NJ guy, I am a huge fan of Mr. Peepers aka Jimmy Wyner of Cornell. A stud in HS, he turned into a monster last year with his 1:48/3:46.
Anyway, I was pretty shocked to see him last at Sea Ray in the 1500 in 3:51. Made no sense at all given his 4:03 indoors and given the fact he had never finished worse than 5th in a race in his life prior to that. Then I heard from a friend who goes to Cornell he ran the 3:51 with a 101 degree fever. The kid is tough as balls.
It got me to thinking. Who is the toughest guy in the world? What's the world record for 1500 with a 100+ fever?
Or better yet. What are the best performances you've heard of about guys who rolled while sick?
