I'm thinking about buying a pair of these, buy would like to know if anyone here has worn them for races? What was the distance? Any bad experiences with these?

I've run about eight races in my current pair (road 5K and 10Ks) and I do all of my trackwork in them. I don't think I'd recommend them for anything over a 10K, though I've been very pleased. If you have arch problems you may not want to wear them.
Very lightweight and very responsive.
Track: 3200, 5000
Road: 5000, 10 mi.
XC: 5000, 8000
I love them; they're very light and very comfortable. I've had no issues with them, although if you're running shorter distances you might want something with a spike plate. However, I have a teammate who's worn the vapors for the 800/1500 and had no problems.
Real nice shoe, however as the guy mentioned above. If you have arch problems avoid them. I have a fairly high arch and they gave me a real bad case of plantar fascia. However, they're nice shoes regardless.
I wear them for 5Ks and 10Ks on the track. No better shoe for a 10K
I trained and ran a half in them.
They are a responsive and minimalist type flat.
They probably don't have enough support for the really long races, but I've used them for races up to the half-marathon without any problems.
I also do all my workouts with them, which can be up to 18 miles (total- with wu & cd).

Great shoes, have a couple pairs. The only griping I can do is they keep my feet to "flat" when running, meaning, I can't get up on my toes as well. I've run a 5k on the track, mile on the roads and 5k on the roads in them, awesome shoe. If you want something that has less on the bottom, go for the streak xc. Oh yea, for being "minimalist" they have nice cushioning.
They are a little softer, thicker, and more curved than the Katana Racer II, another option depending on your taste. I found that the Vapors are too curved and tapered for my foot, and are a little too thick for my liking, but they are otherwise real nice. No reason why you couldn't run an ultra in them unless you are a heavy heel striker with stability issues. The forefoot is 13mm, which is thick for a racer.
Yeah, they remind me a lot of the Mariah.
I'm selling a brand new pair, if your intersted.
Except that those can also be found brand new for $20 at any Nike Outlet store. Probably can be shipped from them to you for less than $10, too.
I don't race much anymore, but I do virtually all of my running -- training and racing -- in the Nike Streak Vapor IV. Races have included a trail marathon and shorter road races. Training has been up to about 100 miles per week, and individual training runs up to 26 miles or more, generally (though not exclusively) on trails. I have had very few problems with these shoes. I wear them until my toes are poking out of the uppers and the holes in the soles are getting too big and picking up too many pebbles. I think they're great shoes.
Are you still in high schooler wrote:

Really? Can I get them online? I'd like to buy another five or six pairs before Nike decides to "improve" them.
I don't know, I haven't really looked for them online. You might be able to find contact info for the Nike Outlet stores online and try calling different ones until you find all the pairs that you desire and pay for them to be shipped to your home. Forget "improvements" it appears that Nike has decided to drop the shoe from their production line completely, it's no longer available at Nike's online store though they still offer the Peg Racer, Marathoner, and Streak XC.
Best shoe I've ever ran in!
Bump
