I ran about a 40 flat 10k today, and it was a PR, but I was left think about how to get in to Boston I'd only be able to be maybe a couple seconds per mile slower in a MARATHON, and how I'm just not there or even close right now, and how that means I'm actually quite slow. Then someone tells me about her over 50 minute 5 miler, and I though "wow, you're REALLY slow". Thinking of myself as slow makes me think of people slower than me as basically tortoises, and that is most people still, and it probably isn't good to think about how slow everyone in when they tell me their race times. How can I get over this mentality?
