Just curious- I thought it was 4:16-4:19 last year from the MN or WI kid? Asking because a CO freshmen ran 4:25 last weekend in CO. He may look like he is 25 but he is a freshmen. Pretty nice kid too.

S Taye went 4:09 last year...thats the record.
Not sure, but my 5th grader ran a 6:16 last weekend. I told him he's going to break 4 as a 9th grader.
Those hundred mile weeks are starting to pay off. He's not too keen on being tethered to my back bumper for his morning sessions though. Hell with him, he'll get used to it.
Deak did a real fast indoor mile, I want to say 4:08
my appologies, i thought the 409 & 408 were sophmore times. Thank you.
And for the other guy. The kids name is Evan Appel from Dakota Ridge HS. And no I do not coach there. he was 9th at state xc in co
The REAL American frosh record is 4:14 by Craig Miller of PA, not an ethiopian transfer that isn't american that ran 4:09. that record should not count.

a fully developed Deak.
I head Craig Miller's Family moved to America within the past 300 years - Are you sure it isn't because your racist?
do high school records require US citizenship? obviously, the ncaa recors do not.
S Taye is clearly faster than Craig miller, and even if he's a
immigrant he's still faster and where would America be without immigrants? Go Taye!

Ok he was a Junior and ran 4:11
so as a freshman he ran
1600m
2001-03-28 Florida Relays 04:18.90
Lets hope he will flourish more at UF next year than he has in the last 2 at Colorado
If he's citizen that's fine, if he's not a citizen then it shouldn't count as a record.
400 52.10 Sanya Richards (Aquinas, Ft Lauderdale, Florida) New York, New York 3/10/02
Looks like you don't need to be a US citizen to get a National HS Record
Last I knew, neither of the Tayes were citizens here. Doesn't detract from their running IMO, but I think National HS records should be the fastest times of people who are from this particular nation, not just people living here.
but, as Sanya's HS indoor 400m record shows, citizenship is not a requirement for a HS record so why should they be any less eligible than she was?

if you want to play like that, what is the fastest time by an aboriginal residing in the states, everyone else is an immigrant to them
although they also have not lived in the states forever.
now that's the understatement of the day

HS records ought to be for citizens. If some mediocre American kid lived in Kenya for a year and rewrote all the sprint records there I would think the Kenyans would feel the same way.

no, why? becasue Kenyans would actually try to take it for what its worth and train harder to take back the records instead of being a gaping vagina about the situation.

Um, no.
