Hello all...quick question to you all really quick. I\'ve taken an extensive break (4-5 years) from competative running and am looking to get back into it. As a 19 year old, I was 6'1" and 125lbs running 15:30ish 5ks. Now I have gained about 30lbs., but still quite skinny. So the question is this:
What are some of your times and weight/height ratio.

I'm 6'1 as well and gained about 25-30lbs over the course of the 6 years since I entered college. I went from about 128 to 155ish. During this, I gained some muscle mass and ran 14:28 & 24:21 on the road for the 5 and 8k respectivly.
Just from the straight info, I would say that at 19 you were too thin (though maybe still growing, which would account for it). 6'1" 155 you aint exactly a whale, I wouldn't overly worry about it. Watch what you eat and do the work, but I'd say that trying to get to 125 would be pretty silly at this point. The 2 pounds per inch is a vague rule of thumb, but it depends a lot on your bone structure.
I'm 5'7" and 130-135 when fit. Like you I've had a lay off and find myself nice and plump. I don't really worry about it, as I shed weight like P. Diddy on mile 18 once I start running again. I've run 15:12, 30:56, 52:37, and 1:09 and change.
Yes I know my 10k time makes no sense - I ran out of my mind.

I'm 6'6 and currently 180 pounds. After a 15 year layoff, I suck. Now that I'm 36 I want to shoot for PRs at all distances. Primary goal is sub 3 hour marathon. When I was 20 running at 160 pounds, I ran 17:00 5K (3x), 35:27 10K, 1:18 1/2M, Marathon goal was sub 2:40 but I burned out. Although I was competetive, I think I sucked back then, too.
Regardless, I LOVE running now!

Strange way to list your times. Most runners, being runners, usually give the exact time.
