I know similar topics have been discussed at length on here before but I had trouble finding any threads answering my specific question:
If an athlete has been following a training program where they’ve done the typical 2 threshold workouts and 1 hill sprints workout per week, for the last few months and has built up a strong base, how many weeks out should they start incorporating more race specific sessions such as VO2 max and speed workouts if they want to start prepping for an upcoming 10k or 5k race?
Curious to know if anyone has any information or can point to any existing threads regarding how different pros also tackle this. Thanks in advance.
