Never ran it before, I know there are barriers and there are water pits, and the water pit is right in front of the barrier and its 3,000m long, I think that's about right, can someone describe it a little more in detail, how many barriers are there per lap, and are they on every lap?
There are 4 normal 36" barriers and the water pit. You run over them every full lap you run (not the first partial lap-no barriers there). That makes a grand total of 28 dry barriers and 7 water barriers. Best of luck.

It's the toughest running event in track and field. Start running when the starter shoots the pistol and when you see a barrier in front of you, jump over it and then repeat every time you see a barrier in front of you until you have finished 3000 metres.
Your best bet is to go to a collegiate meet and watch one. Follow the crowd to the waterjump.
