He could probably break the WR some time in the next few years if he focused on it.
Almost certainly. In addition to the relay split, it is notable that he also holds the 300m WR/WB/whatever. Granted it's a rarely contested distance, but still.

he can break it. bolt should have broken it.
here is the top 4 300 times ever. only 4 under 31. Letsile's time was set at altitude, fwiw., along with Michael Johnson.
1.
30.69 A Letsile Tebogo Botswana 17 February 2024 Pretoria
2.
30.81 Wayde van Niekerk South Africa 28 June 2017 Ostrava
3.
30.85 A Michael Johnson United States 24 March 2000 Pretoria
Drafting in average helps roughly 0,5 seconds. It is very significant.
Letsile has done 400m training pretty much his whole athletic career. In the off-season everybody in the training group does mostly the same excercises (or so I heards).
Of course he is very talented athlete and has a good chance to break the WR if he decides to focus on it. I'm just saying that it won't be easy or a given thing. It took Michael Johnson four years to improve his PB from 43.39 to 43.18.

Go and listen to Michael Johnson's interview on nightcap. He was focused on breaking the 200m world record and he trained for 75% 200m and 25% 400m. Once he broke the 200m, he switched his attention to the 400m (75%). He says he would have broken the 400m sooner if he focused on it. With Tebogo, it will be the same. For financial reasons I think he will focus on the 100/200, same as Bolt. What incentive is there to run 400 full time?

He'll never be as good as the 100 as he can be at the 400.
