LOL to all the trolls and haters who said OAC had not only underperformed in Paris, but had somehow ruined it's athletes. Two Olympic medals, a few best times, and some irrational morons lose it because Ollie and Georgie didn't perform as expected. Please, Haters, name another US distance team that did so well.
I think they still go home pretty devastated and I am a fan of the athletes in the group. How did they have so many athletes expected to be at the Olympics but completely fail at their trials? How many of their athletes at the games were expected to be potential medal earners that couldn't even make the final? OAC is a perfect fit for taking a dozen eggs and throwing them at wall and hoping they don't break. The fact of the matter is the group is overtraining and it's very obvious. In a lot of their podcasts they mention doing a ton of volume but most of them cant seem to handle it and show obvious signs like various injuries and we've seen multiple mentions from athletes about going through mental health struggles in the past year which is often a symptom associated with overtraining.
I believe they only had 6 people in the Olympics, not 13. And if you are unable to read the results, or have no ability in doing some actual research to find out about who did PBs, you are beyond help.

It's amazing to me that you think Olympic medals and PBs by other Olympic OAC athletes are worthy of this nonsense. You are delusional.

The actual record:
Injured/Bad Showing: Klecker, Monson, Andrews
Good Shape But No Olympics: Hurta-Klecker (sub-4:20 mile recently)
Good Shape But No Final: Vissa (NR), McDonald (Narrow Miss)
Olympic Duds: Beamish (injury), Hoare (in his own head), Garcia-Romo (unclear)
Olympic A+: Nuguse
Olympic A-: Obiri (ran great but missed training, took her out of the final sprint)
I believe they only had 6 people in the Olympics, not 13. And if you are unable to read the results, or have no ability in doing some actual research to find out about who did PBs, you are beyond help.
Whoosh. Haha. Monson, Klecker, Klecker, Romo and a few others I’m forgetting weren’t even at the games. So yes 2 out of 13 athletes

Pardon my french, but Dathan Ritzenhein does not get to, and will never get to, take credit for the accomplishments of legendary runner prior to OAC.....HELEN OBIRI.

Romo was at the games. The others weren't. My post clearly mentions the Olympics themselves. Sadly your facts are about as compelling as your opinion, deranged as it is through irrational hatred.
I’m a huge fan of OAC. But all the injuries have me quietly wondering to myself if this sounds strangely like Ritz and his career. I think we can all agree one has to ride the fine line of squeezing the most out of training while staying healthy, this group has just been getting hit with injuries. Who’s to blame for this?
clearly you went home devastated and seething with rage: apparently, now we can’t even count even one’s multi-year for any credit at all. Every athlete ever who did well at a Games can only ever credit their first coach, according to this infantile logic. Thanks yeah nah for clearly making my argument for me.

I’m a big fan of some athletes on the OAC, less so for others. But let’s look at the results from this year and the Olympics - they clearly show that the OAC underperformed and left half of its athletes injured for the biggest moment in professional running since its inception.
Let’s start with the positives. Yared did great, bronze was slightly over performing my expectation for him. OAC gets all the credit for that.
Helen also medaled, which met my expectation that she would get a medal, one color or another. However, Helen was already a multi time global medalist long before the OAC came around. And once she joined them she found herself injured leading up to the Olympics, taking her out of the gold medal sprint at the end. But a bronze is a bronze so I’ll give the credit where it’s due.
OAC had 7 chances to medal with Nuguse, Hoare, Beamish, Romo, Obiri, Vissa, McDonald, (not counting Ramsden, she hasn’t been there for this entire build). They walked away with 2 bronzes. The exact same as Grant Fisher, a US based distance runner.
Foot note positive for Sinta, big PB and national record, she just wasn’t at all relevant compared to the competition and didn’t make the final.
It seems the main reason they underperformed this year was injuries and over training. Confirmed injuries that impacted the Olympic season for OAC: Klecker, Monson, Romo, Beamish, Hoare. And then you have Hurta-Klecker and Andrews who each couldn’t even beat college kids at the end of a long NCAA season to make the US team. And McDonald and Vissa just not relevant on the global stage despite performing at or above what you would expect from them on a good day.
It can still be true that Yared had a great season and Helen maintained the expectation of her to be a global medalist while acknowledging that this Olympic year was overall a huge disappoint from the OAC.

Well they did underperform. Two medals out of the entire team and all those events? I think it’s Ritz that went home devastated and should think about what the heck he is doing to his runners with half being injured and the rest who couldn’t get their shttt together
