Why do selection rules not say if you are clearly injured we reserve the right to remove you and replace?

Unbelievable! And conversely the men’s marathon winner was a late substitute. I was frustrated when Des pulled this and to see it even more explicitly yet again is infuriating.

There was no one ready to go in Des's case. Either running the 10,000 or injured. Would have to go down to 6th, 7th at the trials (Can't remember) and they certainly wouldn't have been waiting for the call.
