norman has been hurt and never quite came back from whatever injury. he hasn't run well all year. kudos to him for taking a shot. i wouldn't be surprised if he sat himself out of the relay. we'll see.
Something tells me it will be Hall, Norwood, Wilson, Benjamin.
I know Bullis is a sprint powerhouse but still, imagine running 4x4s with your HS buddies all spring and now running on a team with legends like these guys.
I think Norwood first leg because needs to be a fast finisher and good curve runner. Hall on 2nd is perfect as fastest. Wilson third is a must, I suspect it’ll be him or Bailey. Benjamin an experienced anchor
Quincy Wilson, the 16-year-old who turned heads at the U.S. track and field trials in June, will be part of the men's 4x400-meter relay team Friday and will become the youngest American male to ever participate in an Olympic...

Heck, imagine coming back to school in a few weeks with an Olympic gold medal around your neck.
I am not a fan of this. I know it's great PR, but the risk:reward is too high. This kid has a long future and a LOT of 4x4's in his future, no need to rush it.

What exactly is the risk? He's earned this spot fair and square. Nothing in the future is ever guaranteed.
Thats a lot of pressure for a young guy, even if its just a prelim! if anything goes wrong, you better not point a damn finger at the kid.
Not gonna be a comfortable look either when Lyles takes his spot in the final, gonna need the PR machine working overtime.
I see it differently. If all goes according to plan and he’s the favorite going into the Olympics in 2028, 2032, and 2036, the Olympic pressure will never be lower for him than it is there. Nobody is expecting a 16-year-old kid to dominate. He just needs to run a solid leg, and more than likely the team will advance. Plus this is a great opportunity for him to get some experience running at the highest level in the sport, which will serve him well in the future.

Have to agree - the US has so much depth in this event, reaching out to a 16yo (even as good as he is) isn't necessary. If he somehow chokes (hope he doesn't) he is likely not emotionally mature enough to handle the fallout. This isn't a country (Canada for example) who hasn't any depth, so anyone that good is automatic with no pressure to get a medal. The experience might be good for him, I get that - but there are huge expectations for success in America. Anything less than winning in the 4x4 is a disaster (like the mixed 4x4) here.
Speaking of Canada, look at Morales-Williams who has gone from NCAA star (fastest time in the world at one point - a few people even talking about an Olympic medal) to not even close to making the final (a second slower than Quincy W). As it turns out he would not have been close to a medal at his best, given all the 43's in the final. But this the OG, this guy is now a Pro, so should be able to handle that, but the kid might not handle a bad race as well, with team mates depending on him - especially having a lead (likely) and having to hold onto it. He is good at chasing people, can he hold a lead? The best hope is that we just walk away from everyone and so he doesn't have to work that hard, has some wiggle room, but that is not a sure thing.
