Has anyone ever gone out that fast before in an 800?
In Kipyegon's WR, she hit 800 in 2:04.0 but I'm wondering if Hassan of Tsegay has gone out faster as they have run some crazy splits before.
PS. Her 11200 split was 3:10.82 and she won the heat in 4:01.47
Asinine. She could’ve still run that same time in an easier way and still make it through.
I think the more astonishing split is the 58.86 first lap.
As I recall Haylom won the U20 1500 over a Kenyan runner who was shortly thereafter busted for doping. Everyone can do the simple math on that.

It seems to me that you are saying if she beat a doper she must be on drugs herself. But if she's a doped up wonder, why in the world is a 3:53 doper failing to get out of the 1st round and being relegated to the Repechage?

To me, the most logical explanation is the 1500m coaching for the Ethiopians is HORRENDOUS. There women are all over the map with their up and down performances and there men have no history of success - yet a guy with Ethiopian parents just won the bronze medal and last year ran 3:43 in the mile.
Plus look at Sifan Hassan's success with the Netherlands. THe most obvious easy improvement in the sport would be for the Ethiopians to upgrade their coaching. I do think the language gap between Amharic and the rest of the world is significant. The

Nice. And just so we’re clear, Kipyegon’s world record is 2:02.15 average pace and that race from Tsegay is 2:02.83 average pace, making 2:02.5 through 800 seem entirely reasonable.
Sorry if the truth disgusts you. And yes, in a doping sport where catching the dopers is an improbability, you often have to rely on logical deductions. One of them is if a runner beats proven dopers, the most logical conclusion is that they doped as well, simply bc the chemistry is so effective. Call it the Armstrong principle. But in this case we also have someone competing for a corrupt dopocracy, with Ethiopia playing the obvious Kenya role, as well as the unreality of this athlete's 3:53 at her age. That alone raises the red flag. Then again, this board championed Houlihan and promoted the supersuspecr Chemusto as a valid medal threat before instant karma actually set in. What disgusts me is doping when it insults our intelligence. And calling it heroic.
Err ... 2:02.5 isnt totally inconsistent with a 3:50 final time. Even pace split is about 2:03 high anyway. So thats only a slightly fast opening half.
OK for a 4:01 thats different.

Both Tsegay and Kipyegons
3.50.3 and 3.50.37 both went out i. 2.02.xx
I reckon Haylom is in it to pace Tsegay at that insane pace

effectively 2:02/2:18 splits...ouch!
Flamed out in the first semi. 67.1/2:13.6/4:03.11. She only needed 4:01 to go through.
