Real relays are held at the end of the meet.

The IOC doesn’t care about the mixed 4X400, so they placed it at the beginning.

Yet, the Netherlands is the team that gets to take GOLD home.

There’s no “real 400s” handing out more than 1 gold. Why did USA run the heats so fast? No point in doing that. Paid the price.

well the athletes atleast certainly cared. They just won a Silver medal but were all moping about looking devastated, they clearly thought it was a sure thing.

I blame the coaches for this loss. did each runner think they had to run their hardest to run in the finals? If the coaches had strong support for one or two runners to be in the finals, the coaches should have told that runner they did not have to go all out when they were up by three seconds in the semi.

Yes. Some teams like the USA had the ability to bring out 4 fresh runners. They have now restricted it to allow only 1 sub. They claim to make it fairer for those teams that do not have the depth that the USA has.

USA relays have been a joke for years. They should win gold in every relay event at every global championship, full stop. Any non-gold performance falls entirely on coaching.

The US needs a kind of gulag place where they send failing relay teams into internal exile. Someplace like Kearney Nebraska. That will learn them.

Yes only allowed one substitute. But we substituted zero. If we cared we could have substituted Hall or Norman or Benjamin for Deadman.
