I'm 22 years old and have been running since 2017... Since Day 1, I always asked myself the question:
' Why do women find Runners Unattractive, when the human species managed to evolve, thanks to Distance running?'
You would think that the primal desire of women, is to be with a fast runner who is able to chase prey, but instead they are attracted to the complete opposite. I love running, and would never give up on the sport, regardless of the opinion of women. I'm just curious why this is the case.

I have met a fair number of women attracted to me because I’m a runner. I’ve met others attracted for other reasons. Never met someone who said it was ‘unattractive.’
I think this problem is exclusive to you and a few other posters on this board.
Maybe just try to be a little more than just a runner. If you just talk about your last training sessions that gets old really quick. Just be interested in a bunch of different things.
Just wait until you get to mid-30s when most men your age are overweight and out of shape. Assuming you stay in shape, many women your age will find you physically attractive. But personality also affects attractiveness. Looks will draw them in, but your personality will keep them close or send them away. Based on your initial posy, you've got some work to do.
Because you’re weird and obsessed with numbers that are divisible by 4 and you yell ‘track’ when walking quickly on a multi-use path. You can’t bench your bodyweight and you look malnourished.

if your entire personality is being "a runner" then you've answered your own question.
as a side note, it's incredibly cute youve been running for seven years. ive run since i could walk. why didnt you play tag or any other game that involves running as a child?
Most male runners look pretty emaciated. Women generally don't find very skinny men attractive in the conventional sense. If you dress well and have an otherwise decent appearance and personality, the slenderness factor isn't that big of a deal. If you're a top runner in your cohort, then all the better, the runner ladies might well like your top status.
I will say, as you get older, being slender is a benefit as many other men tend to pack on bad weight. I think an athletic build... think soccer players that do strength training is probably the sweet spot for most women. You definitely want to avoid women who want the male bodybuilder look for an assortment of obvious and not so obvious reasons.

What are the obvious and not so obvious reasons? Genuinely curious

I'm speaking from personal experience. Pre-pandemic, I was a heavy lifter. Not trying to brag, but I had a very developed musculature. For many years prior to that, I had your typical runner's physique... 5' 10" 145 lbs. When I bulked up, I was suddenly faced with a lot more attention from women in all different facets of life. The Halo Effect is definitely real.
The obvious problem to me is that having so much interest be garnered solely by virtue of your appearance isn't encouraging for a deep meaningful relationship (many might not care, but I date with intention). Also obvious is that many of these women that react the most strongly to a muscular physique are what an old friend of mine referred to as "baddies". The number of heavily tattooed women who were in the gym all made up with slinky tops and leggings wedged up their overly developed glutes making very obvious attempts to get me to talk to them before walking off in a huff was actually a big annoyance.
The not so obvious stuff is the time investment, dietary burden, and grind of maintaining a muscular physique. I hated the amount of food I had to eat to look muscular. I hated spending an hour weight training with a half hour of cardio afterwards. I got bored of being in the gym 6-7 days a week.
Then COVID hit. The gyms were closed. I bought a pull up bag and gymnastics rings and started doing calisthenics at a lower frequency and with less time per session. I ran and walked a lot more. I lost maybe 15-20 lbs of muscle but still have a lean muscular and athletic build with far less calorie intake and way less time in the gym. What's weirder is that I've never had an easier time with dating educated, sporty, and successful women of good character.

Judging by the comments the men leave on here, I wouldn’t be surprised if women find it difficult to connect or feel respected by male distance runners.
There are things I’ll say here because it’s anonymous that I’d only talk about a long run with friends. But I don’t view it as terrible to comment on the looks / hotness of female runners - it’s normal locker room talk
Simple. Too skinny. They do find sprinters attractive. It is what is. It's not like distance guys gaining 5 more lbs will make an ounce of difference. Accept it and go run faster. Run proud and skinny.
