A post on the "You know you're an old school runner if ..." thread got me thinking. Someone posted about remembering when Sam Bair (the older) ran the mile. I run with Sam several times when living in PA. For those who don't know him, Sam won a silver in the '67 Pan Am Games 1500 and ran 3:56 for the mile in '69. Later, he coached cross country at Allegheny County Community College, where his record was 110-0-1.
His son placed 3rd at Adidas Nationals last year and set a PA state record of 4:09. A stress fracture ended his season early this year, however.
Does anyone know of other such parent/child track successes?
