Starting a National College Club XC Championship

I would start by contacting as many universities' intramural directors as possible. Most big schools have full-time staff members who oversee all of the recreation programs... they may be able to help you.

Pay $40.00 to become an offical USATF Club and then run the exisitng National Club XC CHampionships each December.

I think both are good ideas. Attending the USATF would be good for the club boys at U of M. From what I heard, at least 4 guys ran 20:40 or less for 4 miles & did not make the team in the fall & have been training 80-90 mpw. They should do something because they could do pretty well.

Ball State has been having an intercollegiate club meet for since they dropped CC a few years ago. They already have teams from most of the midwest.

Just participate in that, because you won't get much more than regional participation.

Thanks for the input. We have thought of running USATF's, and yes, with everyone going full we could do ok. However, we are looking also at more college club stuff, and having an organized season (besides the open varsity college races we run in).

We do run in Ball state's meet, however they, along with Penn St and others, are working with us to get this national event going. There are more than you'd think interested in something bigger. While I realize it will be hard to get teams out West or far South to come to a national meet in the Midwest/East, it is still worth a try.
