That is incredible that Quincy Hall made that breakthrough. It doesn't always take. Champion Allison, for instance, ran about that time last year but struggled this year. But Hall has been good for years.

Tebogo's mom died earlier this year, and he's just getting into the swing of things. Last week's race where he came in 2nd to Kishane Thompson was also a jog. I get the sense that these are tuneup races in the purest sense of the word.

Hall already has the bronze from Budapest, and he comes to play. I was trying to think what athlete Hall reminded me of in the 400. He certainly doesn't have that Van Niekerk or Steven Gardiner vibe. Hall is a bit older than Champion Allison, and Allison got injured. That passage out of the NCAA is treacherous for sprinters.
