Jakob’s absolute ceiling, if it were his main event, would have been about 1:43.15, but like now, certainly not clean. Then he might have also run 3:26.22 (which he won’t now) but he focuses on mid to long distance. Then with that training he wouldn’t have broken 12:50, whereas he can run 12:40ish now.

Ingebrigtsen is a strength runner and to run his fastest possible 800m, he needs to be in PR shape for the 1500m. I think it takes a minimum of 1:44 to run 3:26.7, but many LRers think he’s maxed at 1:46.4. Maybe we’ll never find out.

Even with dedicated training, I don’t think he has the leg speed velocity for 1:42. Somewhere in the 1:43-44 range.
Today in the 1500m he ran a 1:50.26 800m pace for a full 1500m.
