And the others are a good few seconds behind. Keely is a 1.55 runner. Mary has yet to break 1.56. The others will hover around 1.57-1.58. Jemma didn’t look great at the British Champs and seems to underperform when it matters.
Didn’t happen last time. She’s got Mary sussed now.
Could you kindly tell me who the winner was in Budapest last year?
Most recent race was Prefontaine in May. Where Keely looked super strong and Mary had no answer. Or does recent form matter less than last year’s form? Keely has improved. Not seeing any improvement from Mary….

That's my point. Keely peaks for early season, while Mary peaks for big races like WC or Oly.

She can peak all she likes. She’s still never broken 1.56. She’s going to need to up her game this year.
Keely glided comfortably past Mary in May and looks stronger than ever. She has the WL and the fastest PB. So….
Mary won easily in the last championship race. I would give more weight to that than some meaningless race. People should be training through may races when your goal race is in August.
Those 2 and the Jamaican are basically the only ones down around 1:56 that I can think of. Feels like that gap back to the 1:57 ladies is enough to make it hard to imagine someone else winning but it is the 800. People bomb out or have the race of their life’s and set 1.5s prs all the time.
I think it’s fair to say Moraa and Hodgkinson are the co-favorites. But it would be prudent to watch out for Sekgodiso from South Africa. She’s been running really well this year.

And if you really watch that Pre race, you would see Mary went out in 56 and basically front-ran it ala Mu, and yet she still barely lost to Keely by less than a second. Unless Keely can somehow get into 1:54 shape in the Olympic, Mary will destroy her again.

Why would she watch out for herself? I think it’s more prudent for Mary and Keely to watch out for Prudence.
