She didn't really look great in her first two rounds. She sort of had a shuffle, which is how you would run if you didn't want to stress your hamstring very much. I don't think she was 100% healthy this weekend. Keep the top few from the open 400, add in Sydney. And maybe even a top 200 meter runner.
She doesn't improve their chances in the 4x4, why replace a 48/49 leg with a 48/49 leg for no reason?

So we're taking the fastest people from a few years ago for our olympic relay this year? Someone better call up Allyson Felix and tell her to start training again. Athing Mu has barely raced the last two years, and showed nothing this year. So you can't give her a spot, she hasn't earned it.

For what? So she can run the rounds? They can get through the rounds without her. It'd be a slap in the face to everyone that actually qualified to put her in the final.
Nothing about Mu's races this year have indicated to me that she'd definitely be faster than the other options. She MAY be a greater risk to fall in the relay than the other options as well.
this is a nonsense argument. based on the final times you take the 5 fastest 400m women plus levrone, who has laid down an actual marker this year running 48, which would have won trials.
mu's sub-50 times predate the last olympics. i think even DFL finals dabbler shamier little has a faster 400 time since then.
and that's setting aside mu looked sluggish in her heats, hasn't run a competitive 400 in years, has barely raced in a year, and if she pulls up grabbing that hammy the whole team is done.
Absolutely not and if they give her a spot to Paris, it will be exactly that, a gift. We have 5 or 6 girls that are sub 50 THIS YEAR so that's a whole team plus 2 alternates right there. And we have about 10 more than can run 50-point. She needs to wait 4 more years like anybody else that didn't come prepared.
If Mu wants to be considered for the ralay pool, then she needs to go to Philly to run this Saturday at the Penn Relays Summer Series to put down a 400 meters time. Corrigan will be there trying to get the steeplechase standard.

As a Brit I’d love to see Athing on the US relay team, as that would improve our medal chances when she flirts with a DQ for barrelling into her opponents. Please place her on any leg except the first, else she’ll have her own lane.
As a freshman, Athing ran into her opponent when she couldn’t make a pass on the back stretch. More of that, please.

on further thought, as i said other thread, if you wanted to risk her in some pursuit of hype, you do it mixed. put her/HS kid for the all-time hype team.
