Who is the better runner coming out of Harvard? Ramsden or Blanks?

By number of titles, Ramsden (3) after this week, Blanks's from XC is more prestigious.

In comparison to the best in the world, Blanks is ~25-30 seconds for a 5k away from being in the conversation for best in the world. Ramsden is 15 seconds for 1500 away from a similar mark. This would put Blanks closer to adjusting for event length (30s is 3.8% of 13:03 5k while 15s is 6.1% of 4:05 for 1500)

This is all kinda just hand waving, though. I think Ramsden is closer to a 4:00 or 3:59 athlete which would make her closer to world-class than Blanks.

Thoughts? I also think both athletes are incredible and don't want to appear to be diminishing either.

Ramsden has run 4:02 this season.

Subjective but I would say Blanks has the higher ceiling, Ramsden has the higher floor. Blanks is too injury-prone to really say confidently he will be a world-beater, while it seems unlikely Ramsden will end her career without at least a few world-class results (sub-4:00, maybe a world or Olympic final or two).

I’m not sure we can say Blanks is injury prone when he has had one major injury total that we know of. This is a little like calling Jakob injury prone, I wouldn’t say it unless in the most absolutely literal sense.

I think if Blanks kept his form and momentum into outdoor, the two would appear much closer with a slight edge to Blanks

Blanks might not be injured as much with better coaching, not the hammer every day approach he is subject to now.

Blanks is going to have a hard time even qualifying for the Olympics or World Championships because Team USA is so strong. Ramsden will get in every year as long as she hits the standard or world rank (which she is only a few hundredths away from).

Blanks is the same age as Nico and still has 6+ years of prime Grant Fisher, Woody Kincaid, Joe Klecker, Nur, Teare, etc just to qualify.

Woody Kincaid is 31. Do you really think he’s going to be in his prime at 37? Or Kleeker at 34. Graham and Nico will be in their prime in 4 years. Ramsden should be able to represent New Zealand fairly easily.

They will all be extremely strong through Paris, at least. Then throw in Parker Wolfe who is even younger, and even healthy Blanks can't match his kick.

Too early to tell. Ramsden is a senior but Blanks is only a junior. We’ll have to wait and see, decent chance Blanks dominates the NCAA next year.

I was right by Maia and her friends/family after the awards ending the NCAAs, and she just seems like the sweetest and most genuine kid out there. Between her and Courtney Wayment, you couldn't meet a nicer pair of athletes.

Ramsden seems MUCH woker than Blanks
