Seems like a great program over at Arkansas for 4 women to finish top 4 all under 50 wtf... and she's only 23. I'm definitely skeptical of the Jamaican team as I am the Kenyans, but in this particular case I wouldn't jump to such conclusions.

Firstly, she is a collegiate athlete so I don't know what this has to do with Jamaica.

Secondly, post the same progression for the entire Arkansas team.

Thirdly, unless you know an athlete you'll never know what training and other circumstances led to any time and hence you don't know what % of her actual potential was being fulfilled in her earlier years. Not to mention you started the listings from when she was 16, not everyone comes into their own during high school. Collegiate training and support is also obviously far better than Jamaican high school training and support.

Just checking if I might've missed you posting about Shane Cohen's improvement as well. Or if there might be an underlying reason you give him a pass and choose to call Pryce dirty?

I'm afraid I have my suspicions too. Pryce seemed to have plateaued 2 years ago then blasted past the plateau by 4 seconds, she also was handled by anning during indoors then blows her the hell away during outdoors. Even anning's progression is slightly suspect. Brown there isn't enough data to go off of, but she just happens to be the most talented freshman to ever walk on in NCAA track? Easily faster than Athing, better Adeleke and tying Wilson? In 2 years one program puts four runners with or ahead of Athing and two others who are right there (Effiong, Glenn). Hopefully it's just a rare grouping of all stars who push each other and they will have long successful careers and we will look back and just realize that all the talent was in one place. We'll see.

To be fair, you should list Kaylyn Brown’s age for each year. She was only 12 when she ran 57.14. She was 14 when she ran 53.14. I don’t know why she doesn’t have any marks for 2021 or 2023; was her progression stalled by injuries?

I don’t think it’s all that surprising that someone who could run 53 low at age 14 could improve by 4 seconds by age 19. For comparison, Sanya Richards-Ross ran 54.34 at age 15 and ran 49.89 at age 19.

Please read carefully before criticizing. I was referring to Kaylyn Brown not Nickisha Pryce. According to her World Athletics profile, Brown is currently 19.

Just for the record, Pryce was running at Iowa Western Community College through 2022 before transferring to the top 400m program in the country. She ran 53.50 at 17.
