15 incline, 35 resistance: 15 x 1 min hard/ 1 min easy (easy bring incline down to 7-8)
10 incline, 40 resistance: 10-12 x 2 min hard/ 2 min easy
10 incline, 40 resistance: 40 min tempo
5 incline, 45 resistance: 10 x 3:30 hard/1.5 min easy
I don't enjoy arc trainer workouts. During long injuries I'd do 20 min warmup, an hour moderate like tempo, 10-20 min cool down
Stuff like 10 mins hard, 10 mins easy for 60-120 mins - resistance and incline don't matter too much as you can just go faster. I usually kept incline around 10 and resistance around 50-60
I'd do the elliptical more often than the arc trainer and kept that at 10/10 for the above. I feel like your goal using these machines should be to maintain fitness while you get back to running though, so it might be more appropriate to just go easy and kind of short - depending on the injury.

why do you like elliptical more than arc trainer? just curious
Public information provided indicates she does both intervals, long tempo efforts, etc. on it.
How tall is Valby? The size of the person and how the machine fits them might factor into what a person gets out of the machine, because I saw an insta of Sara Hall on an elliptical, from the rear view, and the pedals appeared (to me) to have her feet too far apart, than if they could have been closer together in a more comfortable position.

In contrast to a person like Valby, who seems to be exploiting the machine for not only aerobic benefit, but strength conditioning, as well.

I think she's either tall or short
What amazing insight! Are you an N.C. State alumnus?

Less fiddling with resistance and a simpler motion. It feels like I get in a groove/pace easier than on the arc trainer . Maybe the pedals just suit my height and stride.

In the following thread, there are links to Instagram posts describing the differences between the Elliptical and Arc Trainer; as demonstrated, the latter can give more of a full-body workout.
I’m very interested in the growing cross training phenomenon, especially as it relates to Parker Valby’s success with the elliptical and arc trainer. Since the other threads end up nuked by the same few idiots arg...

Yes. I like running outside. Barring that, I like running inside more than cross training machines. If I can run I NEVER use the elliptical. Valby is one of the few elites using arc and elliptical but you guys all think you should study this one elites training and ignore all the others. I can guarantee you if you are doing enough on the elliptical to advance your fitness you will have wished you were running.
Try some of these workouts I've done and see:
30 min warmup 10 mins at 15-18 incline tempo effort/5 min easy repeat 4 times
Same as above but 10 incline and go 250 strides a min instead of raising resistance
All at 10/10 resistance/incline
3 hours at 200 strides per minute
30 mins warmup 60 mins at 230 strides a minute
I built up to these when I was out with a Jones fracture. These are the kind of workouts it takes to maintain track/xc fitness. In short the elliptical is not fun. Go run outside.
