2:13....and that was 6 years ago. I doubt I'll ever be able to crack 2 by very much (if ever) in my lifetime.
At my middle school district meet some guy ran 2:05....he went on to run about 1:52 in hs. Being "nationally ranked" at that age means Sh1t though. Most 14 year olds are barely training. If you are doing more then say 30mpw at that age you are ahead of the game probably (as far as middle distance runners go)
I also ran 2:13. We had a kid run 2:04 before the season started, but he quit when the high school kids were making fun of him for running tho opposite way on the track because he had shin splints. He never competed again.
14? About 2:33.
1:58 at 24.
This is a good question. Because how many WR holders and Olympic gold medallists were stars / promising at 14? I say not many. And most of those who were did not succeed in track later on.
yer i wish i knew what the greats like hichem el guerrouj were doing my age? anyone know??
14 2:15
15 2:00

true. of course seb coe ran something pretty bold like 2flat
Seb, 14 in 1970??? Probably much slower than 2:05 ish. But dude, it ain't crucial! A long term outlook, and love of the sport....a desire....a foundation! That's what is important at 14.

seb coe was 25 when he did the WR of 1-41.
i have another 10 years until i reach my peak performance.
As you get older you generally have to move up in distance.....just hope your 400 time also keeps going down if you want to keep running the 800 as your main event in your 20s.

I think a big part of it is when you started high school track (most likely when you'll see a drop in some times). Regardless, 2:05 is a good time for a freshman or an 8th grader, but you obviously know that and are just looking for some attention.
2:34
Ended up running 4:15 mile in college.
My first year of HS track, I was a 15 year frosh. I ran about 20 miles a week, very low key. I ran 2:01 800m. My teammate, a grade above me, ran 2:02 as a 14 year frosh the year before. AND....he ran a 4:25 mile as a frosh. He became one of the best in the state/region in a hurry, and I too was fastest in the state for the mile my senior year. We were both very good.
BUT......we both suffered a lot of injuries after that, and neither of us ran much in college.
Moral of the story??? Running a great 800 when you are 14/15 will not mean that much by the time you are in college and beyond. Being lucky/durable, and being able to absorb lots of training is the key. Do everything you can to take precautions against injuries. Or you will become just another "could-have-been-a-star" type of runner.

We've got this girl on our team who is 14 and
she ran 2:10 indoors.
2:04.
1:57 these days (2 years later)
all of the age group studs kicked my ass back then.
1:59 as a 14 year old.
2:05 at 14 (I'm guessing freshman year) is good. My best 800m at 14 is significantly slower than my mile pace 3 years later. I developed later than some, but if you're running that fast as a frehsman that's very good.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
