Argentina's economic activity fell 8.4% in March from a year earlier, the country's official statistics agency said on Wednesday, its fifth monthly drop in a row and the steepest fall since 2020.
Neither is the 300% inflation and rising poverty that he’s trying to correct according to the article. I don’t know that much about the economy of Argentina, but it doesn’t sound like it was running smoothly and a Libertarian messed it up.
Here in the good ol’ USA we simply keep adding to the national debt and it is approaching $35T. The debt service alone is a huge portion of our annual budget now that interest rates aren’t near zero anymore.
Milei did tell Argentinians it was going to get worse before it got better. Recovering from decades of Leftist rule doesn't happen overnight and it's certainly not.a linear process. Look at most former Communist/Socialist states.
Care to tell us all how to stop inflation like that without slowing down the economy? I'd like to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you're just a dope, but I suspect you're actually intellectually dishonest. Poor effort on this one though.

Would you rather live in Argentina or $35T debt USA?
For now, the USA for many reasons, despite the politics in this country. I do think we are in decline, but that may just be the middle aged man talking along with the constant barrage of negative media.

Milei is doing it right. He is fearlessly doing everything in his power and not cowering to the ugly forces that have held Argentina back.
Argentina was richer than Switzerland coming out of WW2. The socialist Peronists wrecked Argentina's economy so badly that triple digit annual inflation was normal until recently.
Think of it this way... Argentina was an Olympic athlete 80 years ago but has done nothing but gorge on junk food and not work out since then. The first few steps of exercise are gonna hurt. But on the other side is a much better place.
When Margaret Thatcher started her reforms in 1979 and Reagan started his in 1981, there were two years of adjustments before the booms. Thatcher won a massive landslide in 1983 and Reagan carried 49 states in 1984 campaigning on, "Are you better off than you were four years ago?" 58% of voters agreed.
It’s a beautiful.l country but tragic in a lot of ways. The military committed horrific atrocities against people in the 80s. They also waged war on the indigenous population. Now there’s a cycle of garbage social democrats and a gutter conservative moron such is like other South American countries lately. I hope the people riot again and set up neighborhood assemblies . Then rob the stores and communize everything.
It will end like the Reagan and Thatcher reforms ended. With unemployment, internal migration and massive deindustrialization.
Within the stats there is a 21% drop in industrial output.
Think of the rustbelt states that voted for Trump because they have been "left behind". These are the people in Argentina getting screwed right now. Their jobs are probably going to China.
It's almost like both ends of the spectrum should work together and try to compromise on things for the good of the country. Instead, we insist on running avatars for the most extreme aspects of each political party and try to demonize anyone who doesn't agree with each and every opinion we have. Maybe there is a better way?
