Holly cow, they've assembled a top field for Tsegay's world record attempt! Tsegay obviously needs no introduction, but look at this field. The entire top 7 from world cross will be there
Beatrice Chebet (Kenya) - reigning 2 time world cross champion. 14:05 PB on the track in the historic record setting dual with Tsegay. 14:13 world record on the roads in december.
Lilian Kasait Rengeruk (Kenya) - 29:32 on the roads in January in Valencia, 8:25 and 14:23 PBs on the track. 2nd at world cross.
Margaret Kipkemboi (Kenya) - 64:46 half marathon in Valencia last year. 29:50 on the roads. 30:10 and 14:23 PBs on the track are sure to fall this year. 3rd at world cross.
Emmaculate Anyango (Kenya) - 28:57 on the roads with male pacers behind Ngetich
Agnes Jebet Ngetich (Kenya) - 28:46 world record holder on the roads (split 5k through in 14:13)! with male pacers, but only 5th in world cross. Will be interesting to see how she does on the track
Sarah Chelangat (Uganda) - 6th at world cross, 30:24 last year on the roads, national record holder in the 5k
Daisy Jepkemei (Kazakhstan) - 9:06 steeplechase in 2019, but the race of her life to finish 7th at world cross.
Then on top of that you've got
Grace Loibach Nawowuna - 29:47, 4th at world cross in 2023
Janeth Chepngetich - 29:55 on the roads
Loice Chemnung - 29:57 on the roads
Diana Chepkorir - 29:56 on the roads
Jesca Chelangat - 30:01 on the roads
Cintia Chepngeno - 30:08 on the roads
Bosena Mulatie - 30:17
Selah Busienei - 30:26 with 2:01 800m speed
Catherine Reline Amanang'Ole - 65:39 half marathon
Mekedes Alemeshete - 14:36 PB, 10,000m debut
The Americans, Rachel Smith 31:04 and Ednah Kurgat 31:12, probably won't be competitive but will be nice to see how they do in such a high quality field. They could use a fast time and the points if they could break into the top 10 with outside shots at an olympic birth.
