And before him, it took a full three decades for the record to come down by that much before? Well, that's just very interesting is all.

when's the last time you PR'd benching?
It must have been the shoes he was wearing.
That's why he's the goat. over Bekele.
Drugs.
The power of EPO! 🤩
maybe it was the 10k he used to run to school & home everyday when he was a kid??? blue addidas spikes. also being 5'3 might have helped him.
how much are you benching though? wrote:

It's been a while brother.
But normally as we hit the limits of human performance, one would think the progress of records should slow down, absent other factors. When Kipchoge mauled the marathon record, it made sense as you could point to the new shoes. I don't think there were new shoes in the 90s when Haile set these times. So I'm just wondering what other factors there could be.

Don't you get tired of this Coevett?
Here is what makes Geb the GOAT
1. Alongside Ron Clarke, the only other athlete to lower the 5000m world record FOUR (4) times.
2. Lowered the World Record by almost 11-seconds from 12:55.30 to 12:44.39
5000 record is the biggest joke in athletics (flo jo and east Germany aside) when overlayed with the historical timeline of:
1. The start of drug testing
2. The 2004 implementation of EPO testing
3. The covid-19 no test, all-time-trial lockdown
