Why disparage her achievement? Why? What were you doing other than scratching your butt and running a dirt slow 3200 at age 17?
Doesn't seem like a smart idea. What's the point of missing out on being a kid just to get a PhD from ASU? Even more, not get it in a STEM field.. Her PhD is going to get her little to no money and that's why it was so easy to get.
Not to take anything from this young lady's accomplishments, but as stated above a lot of these "extreme early" college / Phd grads are in gimmicky programs. Even so, you have to be pretty precocious to go through all the college coursework and grad school coursework by age 17. Not sure where she goes from here, though.

She’s only 17. She still has time to take pre requisite classes and enter undergrad in STEM at the normal age.

Your high school math olympiad champ who completed calculus before even entering high school couldn't explain the complexities of the social issues in the same way that Dottie did neither can Dottie write a 10-page mathematical proof at 17-yrs old like top STEM gifted students.
