What happens in 5 years when the latest Super Shoes have women running 13:20 and men running sub-13?

This is going to shock you. But men are ALREADY running sub 13.

Men have been running sub 13 for decades.

Of the all time 800 list, 19/20 were run in regular shoes.

Of the all time 1500m list, 14/20 were run in regular shoes.

Of the all time 5000m list, 22/35 were run in regular shoes.

So to recap, post super shoes.. we’ve had one person break into the top 20 in the 800 in the past 6 years. We’ve had 6 people break into the top 20 of the 1500m in the past 6 years. And we’ve had 13 people break into the top 35 of the 5k.

So most likely, in 5 years… there will be more entrants to the top list just a their typically is when 5 years passes. The number of entrants on all time list has not accelerated.
