if you do some serious mileage you will start burning off any fat or muscle you have. i felt like when i tried XC (as opposed to sprints/hurdles/soccer) i lost a lot of weight, some leg musculature, and a little bit of top end. like past a point you quit building muscle and instead tone and lean.
otherwise, to me, 800 with the right background you can be a little muscled, but out further, mile and beyond, it's carrying weight and giving some other body part an excuse to get tired and seize.

You need to define jacked. You aren’t going by to have huge biceps and pecs but you can have decent specs and killer abs and still run a great 800m. Probably not great for attracting dudes but plenty for the ladies…
