Interesting question. Progressives cheer wildly as they chant "death to America!" Liberal media explains that its our fault this happened as the oppressors of those who carried out the attacks, and immediately call for a cease fire before we can hold the responsible party accountable.
I think you're correct. I think if it happened in a liberal city, you'd get a lot less sympathy from the "flyover states" (and vice versa). It's super sad, but I could see a "they get what they get" attitude happening before people uniting. Crazy how much things have changed.

Trump's "Muslim Ban" takes an even larger life of its own than it already has. The left frames the attack invoking "Islamophobia." In other words, while it's a crying shame that it happened, it is somewhat of a relief it is distanced from our current political climate.
