I was considering making a 3-hour drive to attend the Pre Meet, until I got a look at the preliminary schedule. No 400, 800 or 5000 for the men.
I know the Diamond League changes events each year, but couldn't the organizers just run these events anyway, even if outside the 2-hour TV window? There are youth and para athletics events scheduled then (as well as a w10,000). Even if only U.S. athletes competed in these events they should produce great times/races, give them additional exposure before a big (for the U.S.) audience, and sharpen up before the Olympic Trials.

Just to explain this one: -The 3 medalists (Wanyonyi, Arop, Pattison) from M800m last year are adidas, and the best US-based guy (Hoppel) is adidas. So, I get why they didn't prioritize it, as the Nike headliners would be the two Algerians (Moula, Sedjati) and Kinyamal. And then US-wise, you have Clayton Murphy I guess. -They have a strong M200, and the M400 is probably the worst event in track (unless it's the 100) right now, so it's pretty understandable what they did. -Oslo has the M5000, and the rumor is that Kenya might be holding their M10,000m trials at Pre. So between that and LA Grand Prix(also Nike-heavy)/Oslo running marquee 5,000s, there's not much room for another here. Yes it could be for the US guys like Fisher, Woody etc. but it would be very light on international guys who wouldn't bother to run a non-DL 5000.

Definitely a W heavy programme, but I’d walk the 300km you’re going to drive if I could see that Bowerman Mile.

For example, they make only 5 or 6 women's Diamond League women's 800's which makes it more likely to get Athing vs Keely types of races.
If all the Diamond League meets had a women's 800, then Athing and Mu would alternate which meets they went to, and we would never see Athing vs Mu in a Diamond League meet ever.
(Yes, I know Athing wouldn't race in 5 or 6 races anyway, and yes, I know Athing might pull out anyway, but I'm just using the names of those 2 stars as an example. Put in any other 2 names you want in any other event you want.)
