Does he get it? Landover weather says 60ish degrees and chance of rain. Based on that Penn relays split he's probably in shape but I don't think he gets the record. Not enough competition and the weather isn't there.
I think he does break 45 though.

That’s too bad about the weather or I think he could do it. Do the Olympic trials count for a high school record? Or does it have to be in high school competition?
I think you’re about right. I dont know if hes capable of 44.6x yet. The 44.37 split is amazing, but probably equal to 44.8x or 44.9x. I’d guess that’s what he runs.
If he stays healthy , I think he completely destroys that record in the future.
He can get the high school record as long as he hasn't graduated and hasn't signed pro but he can only get the NFHS record in an all HS race.
He's certainly not getting any help from the weather.
The 44.37 was run at 10am in 52 degree weather.
The 44.69 was run at 5:30pm in 56 degree weather.
If he could get a nice 75 and sunny day he could go sub 45 for sure.

On paper yeah, but as Gault pointed out that 44.37 split was mostly in lane 2 and could've well been a sub 44 if he had a clean break at it. So I'd wager he's in 44.6-9 shape. After all his season opener was 45.19 (coincidentally same PB as Boling, who was on both Budapest relays + World Indoors, meaning Quincy should definitely be aiming for the Olympics)
I'm not his manager but I think a good way to maximise his contract price would be to get the HS record (as a sophmore no less), then make the Olympic relay pool and hold his own in a heat or even the mixed final maybe. His stock would definitely be very high after that.
That being said his stock will probably be high for the next few years anyways unless he gets a horrible injury. An exciting talent for sure!

I live about 20 minutes from this facility and if they are running on the outdoor track, it's garbage IMO. The track is old and nothing like the current super mondo surfaces. If Wilson breaks the record on that track, he will have earned it.
45.40
Any news?
Quincy Wilson... Quincy Watts... He's going to be fast/record holder.
He ran 45.17
55 degrees with 15 mile per hour wind gusts.
probably should have sat out today,
That's like... slightly below ideal conditions for a track meet. People have ran way faster in worse.
Put the 44.69 guy in Super Shoes and the improved buoyancy of today's tracks and he runs 43.8.
lol for a 10k. Not for sprinting. Those are terrible conditions.
0.8+ seconds over 400 for super shoes (which have better returns at slower paces) is absurd. I would entertain maybe 0.3-0.4 at most.
Is this a joke? You think 55° is close to ideal for a sprinter?
