I'm hoping to qualify for the 2025 Boston Marathon this weekend at the Kentucky Derby Marathon. Unfortunately the weather is not looking so good. Leading up to the race the temps are in the 40s and 50s every day in Louisville this week. Then the temps are supposed to jump to the high 60s with a dew point in the high 50s for the morning of the race.
I ran a 1:19 flat half marathon last month and have also recently run low 17 for 5K and mid 35 for 10K. So all roughly equivalent performances. Most calculators put the marathon equivalent in the low 2:50s. Given the conditions, I'm planning to run conservatively a shoot for 2:57-2:58 to get a 7-8 minute cushion under the 3:05 BQ for my age group.
Marathon experts of Letsrun, does this sound like an attainable goal given my fitness and the conditions?
