I've incorporated pyramid sets in weight training, but never on the track.
To define: A "pyramid set" is a workout that starts out with a low intensity, incrementally builds up to a high intensity, and incrementally drops back to a low intensity (thus finishing the set).
Gym bros know pyramid sets are really effective for both hypertrophy, strength and conditioning because of the duration of the set and the varying intensity within the set. But I've never seen a sprinting program that incorporates them. Here's an example for 200m:
Set #1
Rep 1: 200m @ 60% effort, 4 minutes rest
Rep 2: 200m @ 80% effort, 4 minutes rest
Rep 3: 200m @ 95% effort, end of first set. 15-20 minutes rest
_____
Set #2
Rep 1: 200m @ 95% effort, 4 minutes rest
Rep 2: 200m @ 80% effort, 4 minutes rest
Rep 3: 200m @ 60% effort, 4 minutes rest
Again, it would intuitively seem this type of workout is very effective at building speed, speed endurance and specific condition for 200m. But I've never seen it incorporated on an elite's training log. Most workouts just start at a lower intensity and peak, but don't have the 2nd "decreasing" side of the pyramid.
