I'm a high school distance coach trying to "collaborate" with this rah-rah ball sports sprint coach to plan the training for a few cross over kids who do the 200, 400, and 800. I told him about periodization of training and he told me to "go buy some fu**ing tampons."
I finally convinced him they could benefit from some aerobic base work--especially early in the season, but he thinks its "too fu**ing sissy cause it's slow"
Anyway, I'm working with them 4 days a week doing base work, hills, strides, and some aerobic fartlek work. But Coach Lunkhead takes them on Tuesday and Thursdays "to put some speed in 'em." This usually means maxing out in the wieght room, then running a bunch of all out 100's on the track. The kids come back to me limping.
I'm so frustrated--I want to kick this guy's ass, but I'm a spindly runner and he's all juiced up.
Any suggestions?
