Not at all. Look at tfrrs.
This is a poor take. If you look at typical recruits, it is actually accurate. Takes more than looking at tfrrs, as those reflect the college athletes they turned into, not what they were in high school. Rucruit actually has a new feature where you can peek at last year's recruiting class for the program, and what their best event times were in HS. Super helpful.
No it isn't. It causes 90% of kids to look at programs where they will fail. Tfrrs shows what they will have to run. It is better because it gives them the real numbers of what is required to compete and to score. A 4:20 kid looks at Power 5 schools but if they looked at Tfrrs, they will see that there are more than 8 guys at 4 flat or below. Kids should look at schools where they are already better than a few guys on the team.
the best way to figure out if a coach wants you is to shoot an email to them. They will let you know. If they REALLY want you, then they will reply fast
Not necessarily fast if they want you. Most coaches outside the top Power 5 schools are way overworked. They need time to verify the results you share with them, and they may not be able to get to that for a few days. That suggests that they're prioritizing what their team needs, which suggests you'll have a better experience if you go there compared to places where the coaches are focused more on bringing in the next recruit to replace you more so than improving your performance.
its very simple. look up program director or recruiting coordinator, and send an email to them. Title it "your name recruiting interest" or something similar. Cut to the chase, say why you are interested in the program, your current times/placements, and possibly what you can bring to the table/why you fit all that bs. Don't make it long or it'll never get read. At the end of the day if the coach is interested they will respond, if they don't then they aren't interested plain and simple. Sometimes they will respond with times. Just send out lots of emails and stay proactive and you should be fine.
That is the process but he wants to know which programs he should contact. Many kids are clueless and there are thousands of programs. Many coaches are really bad at recruiting. I think that they are inept and lazy so it is useful to know what types of marks athletes are currently hitting. I coach a high school team and have 2 children of my own who run D1. I have seen athletes not get responsese from programs where they would be top 1/3 on a team day one while getting responses from teams where they will be about the sowest person. I thinkk it proves that the better programs are better becauase the coaches pay attention while the bad programs are bad becuase the coaches don't do anything.
It is very flawed. It takes the "off-event" marks into the same consideration as the main event. I.E. - an 800m runner that ran a 3200 as training or vice versa. The new feature only lists a handful of our freshman class, so again, the data is skewed.
Nice concept, but athletes should only use it as a guide and recognize that the "walk-on" data for pretty much every school is made up. And the other standards could be off a bit too.
