It's the particular definition of "safety" that is worthy of ridicule. Being safe means that you are not at significant risk of physical harm. It doesn't mean that you will never have your feelings hurt.
There's a difference between hurting someone's feelings and telling them that they can't participate in sports because of a basic part of their identity.
I've known enough trans folks to know that they can handle people ridiculing them.
Telling them that they can't compete as females also is not a threat to their safety.
wha? animals and other biological life forms can and do change genders. I pretty sure this is a joke but for the uniformed. Changing gender is 100% backed by nature.
Humans can't change gender naturally (only with dangerous service) so your argument doesn't hold water.
Ummm...if you believe that life starts at conception, then all human men are transgender.
Sad day in sports history. Last year An athlete of mine her freshman year transitioned to womanhood and we all agreed it was affirming for her mental health. Why bar women from competing against other women? This is scary news and needs to be addressed for a possible override.
Not barring women from competing against other women. Can't be a woman if you have a penis.
Dims in tears...desperately looking for their safe space
Imagine thinking that desiring safety is something to mock.
Protecting a minority’s feelings is not as important as protecting the fairness of women’s sports as well their physical safety (contact sports, changing rooms etc).
if it’s a decision between creating a “safe space” i.e. protecting their feelings vs the actual safety of female athletes then we as society have a clear answer: protecting real women and the fairness of athletics is the right thing to do, every time.
