why do people say if u talk about the weather you're boring or have nothing more interesting to talk about?

I think that's the perception because it's sort of a go to when starting a conversation and you don't know what to talk about. But yeah, lots of interesting things about weather if that's what you're into. My dad was a meteorologist, he could get really deep into conversations about weather patterns and was pretty good at advising me if I should plan my afternoon runs to be indoors or outdoors based on how the clouds looked
