I've seen a little bit of chat about the Pine View Invitational this year, but I don't think people understand how impressive this is.
JoJo Jourdon won in 4:04.6, Danny Simmonds in 4:04.78.
FOUR boys ran sub 4:10 in this race. Last year, including meets like Arcadia and Brooks PR, (sea level) 6 athletes broke 4:10 ALL SEASON.
TWENTY ONE boys ran sub 4:20 in this one race, (THREE MORE in other heats) something only around 40 boys did last year in Utah.
Utah has always been a top 5 state for distance running at the high school level, but with California not having a dominant team since Great Oak/Newbury have fallen off (slightly for the former, immensely for the latter) Utah might just be the most competitive state in the US by the end of 2024 (for the record I don't think they have this title yet)
