Im looking at making a run at sub 2:40 here in a few weeks at OKC, assuming good conditions. Ive only run one marathon before and wasnt worried about the time as much so didnt put much thought into the nutrition piece other than making sure I was getting something in me so I did 2 gu chews every 5 miles starting at 4.5. It worked for me in terms of getting to the finish feeling fine but I struggled with the transition piece of it (fidgeting for the pocket in my shorts, getting the bag out, grabbing the chews, etc.) and would have to slow a step to make it work.
With aiming for sub 6:10 pace I dont want to have to back off pace any during these moments. Anyone have a more efficient method of making it work or something else I should be doing?
