I am going to focus 5k 10k this outdoor season and wondering if the added foam of the xc spike could possibly be preferable since it’s longer distance. Anyone have an opinion on this? I need a new pair of spikes regardless.

The back part of the spike is pretty firm around the heel, but the bottom is more plastic material and built for grass or other terrain. It is not built for a track necessarily and not any faster than the normal Dragonflys
It would not be better in my opinion. If you need more foam and a spike, try the New Balance LD-X. If you just need more foam, wear the vaporflys. At least 50% of the college fields don’t wear spikes for the long distance stuff anymore.
