I'm a 30-35mpw hobbyjogger (1:40 half marathon PR) looking to run my first marathon this fall (targeting <3:25). Right now we've got an infant so squeezing in higher mileage around work and kids is kind of dicey. However I just realized that I can basically run 1 mile whenever on the treadmill without sweating and without having to change clothes.
Would it be worth it to squeeze in random 1-mile runs on the treadmill at easy pace throughout the day on top of my normal training? I figure this can add an extra 10-15mpw at essentially zero extra "cost" (no extra showering, no re-arranging my schedule, etc.)
Or is there too little upside for the additional injury risk.
