I knew a guy. He s no longer with us. He would go a year at a time without drinking straight water. Now, everything he drank was at least half water. Most was 90%. So, he technically ingested water, but wouldn't drink it straight. True story.
Maybe she just means she doesn't drink plain water, so she may drink water with lemon juice in it and so on.
Either right before or right after that, she says "I suck at hydrating". I feel like water + lemon juice wouldn't really make a difference compared to water + water.
Neither of my parents really drank water. They would go for months, probably years and only drank it if they were taking a pill.
Yeah in middle school I probably went multiple months without drinking water, and I didn't start actually hydrating well until I was well into high school. That's part of why it's so crazy to me that she could run that well if she's not hydrating well, because I know the massive difference it makes.

Except lemon juice is alkalizing, raising body pH.
Back in the day of the great sailing ships, the crew drank mostly beer.
In the old days, workers got a daily ale ration during shifts.
Scotch whiskey workers were rationed a dram of their product for morning and afternoon. That's 8oz a day for anyone who's counting. Kept morale high. Yowza...

It also has an excellent electrolyte profile, which is what actually drives hydration. Water + lemon juice = water + water is wrong.
