3% slower every 200m
In an 800, the first 200 will be about 2 seconds faster than your second 200. Then you try to maintain that speed the best you can for the rest of the race.
However, since the last 200 is usually a little slower as you are running out of gas, a sub 2 minute 800 would look like this:
28.3
30.3
30.3
31.0
1:59.9
So the trick is to get the feel for what exactly a 28.3 pace feels like, so that you can actually hit the first 200 split correctly, which most people can't.
Run 200's in practice and time yourself, until you have a good feel as to what is the difference between a 27.5, 28.0, 28.3, and 28.5.
Once you learn how to hit the first 200 split accurately, then the rest of the race will fall into place.
