If it's a mountain running team, I am not impressed. Most mountain racers can't run a 19 min 5k.

If she makes the Olympics in the 5k, 10k, or steeplechase, then I'll be the first to admit they are god-tier coaches.

The athletes they coach are in a other tab on their site, off the top of my head I remember Grayson Murphy, Clare Gallagher, and John Kelly. A lot of big trail runners but idk of any road runners. They write a lot of articles on trail runner magazine. Their philosophy is pretty simple, lots of aerobic running usually with just one workout a week at least for the non pros, typically threshold focus, and strides. Long term aerobic and running economy development over short term gains. Probably a good fit for anyone with a history of eating disorders or overtraining

Of the people in that field, how many will be at the Olympic trials? How many are threats to be top 5?

Put the 2 together and I am not too shocked at this. It is good for her but doesn’t scream anything abnormal. Just that she trained for 4 months.

The Roche's are big in the trail scene. They literally have like 500 clients. Reviews are very mixed depending who you talk to. They coach tons of lower end athletes because they have a very friendly price point when compared to a lot of other coaches in the trail scene. They do also coach some "faster" people is well. Mixed bag

she posted something on her instagram a few days ago about getting injured right before a big race so I'm assuming she won't be lining up at world cross. shame I was/am definitely rooting for a comeback, especially as Coburn/frerichs stranglehold on the steeple is fading

This was the weakest USATF championship in history, Ostrander didn't beat any good runners to qualify.

She appears to be injured again. Maybe we should wait before we praise her new coaches.

what is an MD/PhD in epidemiology doing "wasting" her time coaching? Seems like a waste of a very expensive education (MD from Stanford can't be cheap!) to turn to coaching.

You should read the post. She's not injured. She did post on her YouTube about overreaching and the fact she had to make some training adjustments to ensure she isn't overtraining. I hope the adjustments work and she is ready to travel to World soon. Looking forward to seeing how she does!!!

I said it on the other thread when it happened, but she really didn’t do that bad at Pikes Peak for her first time. Everyone underestimated how hard the last 3 miles above A-frame are, especially if you haven’t been training above 10,000ft. Lots of people blow up WAY worse than she did. And then she came back the next weekend and ran pretty well against basically the same field in Mammoth, which shows she was fit, but just unprepared for the higher altitude at Pikes.

Briefly met her parents just before the start of this year's nationals at Pole Green park. The nicest people. Allie looks exactly like them.

Glad she's thriving and hope she does well in Belgrade and at the trials.

David has been coaching me for 7+ years, and I'm nothing special running-wise.

What I will say is that the attitude and positivity that you see coming through in the article quotes is absolutely genuine and relentless. Obviously it works for some people, maybe not for everyone, but I really appreciate the fact that he never stops pushing me forward and trying to see what I can accomplish. Additionally, the SWAP team camaraderie is really cool - and that all comes from David/Megan.
