N Lyles obviously has been training as a short sprint specialist, fall & winter: working on his start and 30m sprints. Not a lot over overlap, 60m training and 400m training.
Anchor leg Alexander Doom wills Belgium to a comeback finish, beating out the United States to win the men’s 4x400m relay indoor world championship. The Amer...
Some guy split 45.6 and another guy lost to a Belgian no name runner.
Okay….that Belgian no name runner is the world champion, and I don’t understand how any of it is DEI.
All of them were DEI, they were undeserved B runners. Lyles gets to run because of superstar status ? Boling struggles to break 45 seconds outdoor. The other two I have never heard and the last one lost to a Belgian runner from way outside . This is the best the USA could gather for medals ?

What do you think DEI means and how does it apply to a US indoor 4x400m relay?

Diversification by forced and unnecessary means. Getting Lyles on because he is a sprint star. Getting Boling on because he’s white and was popular in college. Getting the other two on a Gold medal race with their sub par credentials as B runners. A race needs the best runners , period.

I just thought it was awesome that he stepped up and ran a leg. It felt like watching an old high school meet or something. He's one of the biggest stars in the world, moving to an event in which he clearly was going to be outside his comfort zone, but he stuck his nose in it and ran a very respectable leg. I don't get all the hate on this thread. That is exactly the kind of thing we should want from our stars - that they'll compete!
