Jakob’s indoor 3000m PB is 7:40.3 (2023). how fast did he close the last 200m in that race?
Nordas ran a 7:41 recently, closing in 27.0
I don’t know. 25.19 seems fast.
It is fast.
That's why the only way Jakob used to be able to beat any fast runner was to run the wheels of his competition. Now that he's proven in his past two WCs that he can't win that way any longer what is his tactic now? Kerr is almost as strong as Jakob's ever been, his slow ass wheels aren't going to be able to kick Kerr...or Naguse (who closed in 25.26 today while running closer to 205 meters, not 200)
Final 200m, 10000m? No. Final 200m, 5000m? No. Final 200m any event between 1500m to 5000m? No. Final 200m, 1000m? No. Final 200m, 800m? No. Final 200m, 400m? No. J Ingebrigtsen is capable of racing final 200m of 300m dash in 25.18 or faster.
I know Kerr’s pace was slow, but 25.19 is quite fast.
Maybe if Jakob puts enough blindfolds on, he can run at that pace.
I know it’s not exactly 25.19, but Jakob did close the last 200m of his 7:23.63 3000m at the Prefontaine Classic last year in around 25.8, with a 12.8 final 100m. Mind you he did this less than 24 hours after running 3:43.73 for the mile, so I don’t think it’s a stretch to say Jakob could run 25.19 in peak shape. Obviously there’s no way he could’ve closed that quick right now as he’s building back from injury.

So, you agree, unless J Ingrebrigtsen has a 300m TT he cares to brag about, he has never finished a race in 25.19 or faster. Sore back or not sore back, it does not matter. You can be a J I fan and admit J I is not as fast as many others. If J I were 20-something years old, 2016, be honest, with 1500m final splitting 1200m in 3:12.0, what place would J Ingebrigtsen have finished?

Kerr is not “almost as strong as Jakob has ever been”. Kerrs 2 Mile is at most a 7:25 and he had this with 3000m of pacing. Jakob got 2000m of pacing ( mind you that the pacer infront of him gapped him multiple times) and still ran 7:54 which is worth 7:19 atleast.
Jakob closed his last 200m in 25.8 in a 7:23.63 3000m race
He closed his last 400m in 52.45 with a 200 of 25.8 in the middle of the 400
He can close as fast as kerr at an even faster pace when he isn’t sick and out of energy like in Budapest.

3:12 for 1200 is probably 10k pace for Jakob (26:40). I think he would be able to close extremely fast off a split that slow. His last 400 in the world semi was 52 flat and he did that running wide and waving to the crowd. You don’t think he could close in 50-high in a race where the finishing time is 15 seconds slower?

I’m not asking if he should have, could have or would have.

I would like to know if he ever did
I don’t know if he did. But if he didn’t the interesting question is why not. And I think the answer then would be because he likes his races to be fast all the way…(And if one does that nobody closes in 25 low…)
Every top sprinter could jog 1300m, and then close in a sub 22 sec. Guess they would beat Kerr as well then, if only the last 200m’s count, don’t you..? So what’s your point?
