How many times is he lapped? His PR is a 9:30. Will make for a chaotic race with so much lapping. Should the 3000m be ineligible from the single athlete per nation rule?

This is the athlete in question: His 9:30 was run in 2015 and his last result was a 35:45 10k from 2017. A disgrace to the sport and the rest of the athletes for the organizers to include a hobby jogger with no results since 2017 in the world champs.362

He would've gotten dead last in the women's 3000 too. Oh yeah, and Elle would have lapped him twice as well.
A disgrace that he was allowed in the race, especially given he didn't have the courtesy to move to lane 4 when getting lapped. Both times.

I agree that allowing this guy into the race in the first place was absurd. But what was this dude thinking to just shuffle around at 9:30 pace in lane 1? Just run the first 1k in 2:40 and drop out. Pretend you have a cramp. I don't know. Anything but what he did.
