I am pretty shocked that no one from NAU qualified in the 3k or 5k (barring scratches) considering they are an XC powerhouse. I thought for sure Larkin would be in the final. Churchill also had some strong times across events.
Who is going to scratch the mile? I am guessing Markezich, Thomas (in favor of dmr, 800m). It is surprising that some of the heavy hitters from outdoors 1500m missed qualifying the mile this time around (o sullivan, Barnett).

Heavy hitters from last indoor missing this year: Olivia Howell who won the mile last year did not even qualify. Sophie O is not surprising as Paris is the goal. Look for a rebound in the outdoor season.
Note, the 2024 times do not yet include any possible further improvements from the 2024 Indoor Championships.
So did “the shoes” get faster over the past year to account for the huge increase in faster times? (sarcasm)
I have had that thought about the shoes, lol. The drop year over year in some of these events is dramatic. In the 5k for example, 4 of the top 5 times all time indoors were run this season (on the women's side) with 3 under the old CR. Whatever the actual reason, the improvements are quite large.

"no one from NAU qualified in the 3k or 5k." Yes, but they do have the 17th, 18th, 19th, 21st, and 22nd qualifiers in the 5k, so they are a powerhouse built from depth, not top ranked performers.
I would agree, considering 11 guys are under 7:41 this year, versus only 2 guys last year.

We had the shoes last year. But, maybe they are better? Did Nike release a better spike for example? The BU track was redone but there have been fast times on other tracks too. Maybe its training.

Olivia Howell has switched to the 800. I saw her in the Big 12 final on Saturday. She finished 3rd, although far behind the first two
The biggest surprise was the OVERALL lack of effort. Almost 90% of distance runners choose the “do the least possible - earn points” approach. The number of runners who were 20-30s off their SB was stunning. Runners who hadn’t qualified for natl didn’t even make an attempt to qualify.
I know there were great performances but few. The few posts on the conf. Championships is testament that LRC members felt it was “ho-hum” performances. How did everybody else see it?

Harvard's DMR -- with Ramsden as the ultimate killer anchor along with 2:01/800 Gorriaran -- not having a top-12 qualifying time.
Florida (time below run w/o PV) is in as the #12 school -- edging Harvard by 0.01 seconds.

Above list suggests that Markovich/ND would do the DMR/3k double while May/Providence -- who is currently 17th on the 3k list -- would opt for the DMR/Mile double.

without casting judgement, the fast heat of the sec 3000 was not that fast going out at 3:06 for first 1000. The AL ladies were already qualified I guess but noone else seemed to go for it. The acc 3000 was a little closer at 3:00
